Millhopper Montessori Middle School (M3S) had their traditional Shakespeare Festival at the Thomas Center. They embarked on their journey in December during Literature Class, they learned all about Shakespeare and in Drama Class transformed themselves into various characters. This year the students rewrote two scenes from A Midsummer Nights Dream, presented two musical numbers: Shakespeare Unshackled and At the Globe, recited many famous quotes, sonnets and soliloquies. Thank you parents and staff for all your support
Today you will be transported on a field trip to Shakespearean England. Our Professor, with the aid of two teaching assistants, will first take you, the class, to Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace.
The sixth grade students are playing residents of England and will give us an idea what life was like during this time period.
The seventh and eighth grade students will be presenting scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream. A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of William Shakespeare's most popular comedies. It was written in the 1590's. This play was originally set in ancient Athens around the wedding of the Greek Hero, Theseus. This play involves two different love triangles which get confused and muddled when fairies intervene. There is also an actor who get cursed with a donkey head! I hear, King James, Queen Elizabeth's successor, loves the theatre and maybe we'll meet him, too. If so, we've prepared a special performance of one of Shakespeare's most famous soliloquies from Hamlet.
